Always pleasant - and great cookies!

I had the absolute worst experience with Artist's Way. If I could give them a 0/5 I would. I got married on 10/11/15. I ordered my wedding cake from here MONTHS before I got married, probably about 6 months to be exact. I picked out a relatively simple design, buttercream frosting that was to be stamped to look "rustic" or similar to bark. There were dozens of photos of similar cakes done by them so we figured this would be no problem. We picked out a cake base that was a large round of wood. We were told this was one of their most popular cake bases. We then chose our cake flavors. I absolutely loved their white wine cake at a wedding show (they provided it without nuts there) and I explained to them that I wanted this in my cake WITHOUT the nuts as I am allergic to the pecans they use. They assured me that this could happen as it was NOT an unusual request. We first discussed putting burlap around the base of each layer but after thinking about it a little longer at our consultation I asked them not to add that as I was worried about fibers being left on the cake. My fiance and I also requested that our initials be stamped on the top tier in a heart. This was a design seen on many of their "sample cake" photos. (This entire discussion was had at our first consult.) When my cake arrived on our wedding day it was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like what I had ordered. NOT A SINGLE THING WAS WHAT I ORDERED. To start with the cake was not stamped but rather was plain white with beading on the top of each tier. It also had burlap ribbon at the base of each layer. The base which was supposed to be one large wood round, instead literally looked like someone went and cut down a 4 inch diameter tree and cut it into 3-4 inch chunks and then tied them together with twine... then on top of those was what looked like a cherry stained round cutting board. The white wine cake I had ordered without nuts, had nuts in it that I was allergic to... meaning I COULDN'T EAT ANY OF MY OWN WEDDING CAKE. To top it all off, the initials that we had asked to be stamped into the cake, I witnessed the delivery guy carve in with a toothpick he borrowed from my venue. They were crooked and it looked HORRIBLE. There is no do over on your wedding cake. And I will never get this back. The kicker in all this is that my cake was a gift from my step mother who at the time was suffering from cancer... she paid over $800 for the cake. She was EXTREMELY disappointed, and sadly after my wedding she died only 5 days later. I called the company IRATE about my cake issues (after returning from my honeymoon) and was told that they were sorry but their normal wedding cake baker was out on maternity leave. THIS IS NOT A VALID EXCUSE!!! If that were the case then you knew months in advance that she would not be the one making my cake but yet did NOTHING to inform me. The only consolation they could provide me was a refund of $100, and no major apology but rather a half-assed "sorry". The actual owner would never speak to me over the phone but would relay messages through whoever answered the phone, and I waited several days for them to "make a decision" on whether or not I was going to get any money back. I will NEVER go back! I have told everyone I know to run as far as possible. I have written this same review over and over! I have contacted the better business bureau and considered consulting a lawyer based upon the fact that I paid in advance and never received anything that I ordered. RUN AWAY PEOPLE! RUN AWAY FAST... THEY WILL SCREW UP YOUR WEDDING DAY!!!!

I have always been very pleased with the friendly service and wonderful cakes and treats I have gotten from Artists Way. I highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a cake, goody basket to a fully catered event. You won't be disappointed!

The photos shown must be very old or they cleaned up for the photo. The place was filthy. There was virtually nothing on display. The fake cake displays were dusty. There was nothing to eat there. It would appear that the bulk of her business is cake orders. After seeing it I would not order a cake from there. I could see into the back and there were baking utensils laying around but nothing was being made. I ordered 2 sugar cookies. She told me they were too old to serve and offered chocolate chip instead. I took 1 bite and through them in the trash. They were old and dry. Makes you wonder how old the sugar cookies were. There was no muffins no fresh breads. Nothing. Did not look like they were still in business.

They did an amazing job for my son's birthday party. I highly recommend them! I got many compliments on the look of the cake and how tasty it was
